Venice
Airport - The main Venice Airport is Marco
Polo or Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo, situated
close to the centre of Venice. The Treviso airport
is also convenient to central Venice.
Venice Marco Polo International Airport
is served by many airlines as it is such a popular
tourist destination as well as an important business
destination. For this reason when you are looking
for a flight, remember the market is very competitive
and you should search on the internet to find the
best discounts.
British Airways and Easyjet from
Gatwick and British Midlands from Heathrow fly from
London to Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo as well
as many charter operators from different UK airports.
American Airlines as well as all the major European
airlines – Air France, Alitalia, Sabena, Lufthansa,
Malev, KLM, Aer Lingus etc etc - all fly to Marco
Polo – over 40 different airlines.
Treviso Airport – only a short
coach trip from Venice is served by Ryanair from several
regional airports and Stansted. After you have arrived
at the airport you can travel by car, bus, water bus
or water taxi.
Water Taxi is the most expensive
costing about €80-€100 – this to the
nearest landing point to your hotel. If you want to
travel by waterbus, the Alilaguna Lines (Red and Blue)
will bring you to central Venice or the Islands landing
points for €10 but there will be a charge for
luggage aswell. This company covers about 16 kms with
two lines and ten different landing places. Travelling
by water will take up to one and a half hours.

You can also travel by ordinary bus to Mestre, Palazzo
de Roma or Santa Lucia Station. The ACTV Company
also runs shuttle buses to many other mainland destinations.
Travelling by bus to the above destinations is quicker
than by waterbus. ACTV also run a service to the major
beach destinations around Venice with a limited service
during winter months and a more extensive service
in the summer.
If you arrive at Treviso Airport,
there is a coach service direct to Venice –
see the ACTV website below.
