Venice
Tours - In Venice, Italy there are many tours
available for visitors. On a tour you will find out
much about the different sites, the architecture,
historical events and culture of Venice. It’s
all in the guide books but being brought around the
city, or through a particular museum or building,
by an experienced guide will bring the history and
events to life and make sure you notice all there
is to see.
Since Venice is surrounded by water
so you cannot drive through the city. The only way
to get around is by boat or on foot. Unless you know
your way around the city, it can be confusing with
the myriad of winding laneways and a guided tour will
be of great assistance, particularly if your stay
in Venice is relatively short. You will be amazed
at the things you’ll learn from your tour guide
and you can ask them questions if you have any. The
city offers various Guided Tours
and we cover only a very few of them below.
Walking Tours of Venice are excellent
in that the city is made for walking and every building,
every single building, has a history and story of
its own. So no matter how long or short your tour
is, you’ll pass many, many amazing buildings.
Like other things in Venice, tours are expensive and
many of the walking tours work out around 25 euro
a person.
There are many tours in the area and you can consult
your travel agent or the visitors center for more
information on them. Be specific on what you would
like to see in the area and that way they can find
a tour that is right for you. Or you can explore the
links below.
Tour to Murano
This is a real tourist tour! Every hotel, inn, hostel,
accommodation provider will arrange this tour for
you and often at no charge. Murano is well known for
its glass making and any tour will include a visit
to a glass making factory. But it is interesting and
also you get the boat trip aswell. Venetian glass
has been famous the world over for many many years
and it is fascinating to watch the ornate glass pieces
being made by these professionals.
Tours to Venice Islands
Of course there are other islands worth visiting –
Torcello famous as where the first settlers arrived,
Burano, the home of Venetian lace making and it is
a beautiful little island with coloured houses.
A Gondola Trip
As we said in the section “Top 10 Attractions”
– you have to take a Gondola trip. It is expensive
but it is Venice. Most Gondola trips are down the
smaller canals and little used waterways. It is so
peaceful without the usual roar of traffic in the
background and you do feel you’re in a different
world.
Padua
Many people include a trip Padua when they are visiting
Venice. This is the city of St Anthony and has a beautiful
basilica and piazza and this trip can be done in one
day from Venice.
